your finger transcends my melodic soma / among the unconscious hearts do we lay / your palm melts into my last rib (1 min read)

Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, The Incredulity of Saint Thomas
1603
let me run my finger through your rib
until my bone crumbles underneath your breath
i’ll die before the light spills through your teeth
i taste it now
deep in the clouds does it extend beyond
the blur of curls that pierce our eyes
it is upon us, in the space between us
i feel it now
your finger transcends my melodic soma
among the unconscious hearts do we lay
your palm melts into my last rib
it is time now
let me pull your skin off your breast
there are pieces of you under my nails
only bones remain
